I am so excited to get back to ‘Foodie Friday’ posts!! I hope your pups enjoy this snack.

Sooooo… yes, I am making granola for the Diva Dog. I have been thinking about doing this for a while because Coco loves to eat my granola and yogurt at breakfast. I hope she likes this version as much as she likes my breakfast.

Ingredients:

- 3/4 cup organic quick cook oats

- 1/3 cup Pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie mix)

- 1/3 cup Liver Snaps (or other dried meat treat)

- 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds (unsalted)

- 1/2 tablespoon natural peanut butter

- 1 teaspoon molasses

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all the ingredients together in a medium bowl until fully blended (I like one bowl recipes but this yellow bowl does not work well in photos)

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use your finger to create little clusters on the baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 mins or until crisp. Be sure to take the baking sheet out of the oven and stir about half way through.

I plan to serve about a tablespoon of this granola with a tablespoon of plain greek yogurt as a weekend treat. Coco is 75-80 lbs so you may want to serve more or less depending on the size of your dog.

I have been neglecting our Foodie Friday posts for a few weeks. We have been slammed with orders and having a hard time keeping up. Of course the Diva Dog has to eat so I have been cooking up a storm but neglecting to write things down and take photos.

Today I made Beef and Broccoli for the Diva Dog’s Dinner and actually remembered to take photos and write down the amounts as I went along. If you would like to make this recipe for your pup, here is what you will need.

- 1 lb beef for stew cut into small pieces

- 1/2 cup frozen broccoli

- 1/4 cup frozen peas and carrots

- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

- 2 tablespoons molasses (black strap works best)

- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic (optional)

In a medium saute pan, heat the olive oil. Then add the beef and garlic. Brown the beef on both sides over medium heat, then add the frozen broccoli and cover the pan.

Once the broccoli is almost cooked through, add the rest of the veggies and the molasses. Saute in the covered pan on low heat until the veggies are soft. If your dog loves veggies then cook for less time so that the veggies are firm. Serve a tablespoon or two over your dog’s regular meal or add your regular supplements to make two meals.

That’s it!! Keep in mind that this meal is for the dog and NOT for you.

So give it a try, trust me its easy to make.

The post Oven Fried Coconut Chicken appeared first on Dog Pack Snacks.

Happy Fooodie Friday!! No I have not lost my mind! I made Oven Fried Coconut Chicken this week and Coco loves it (see the video here). I just know your pup will as well.

Ingredients:

- 3 boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into medium sized pieces.

- 2 Eggs

- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

- 3/4 cup coconut flakes

- 3/4 cup quick oats

First things first, pre-heat oven at 375 and grab two mixing bowls. In the first bowl mix the Eggs and the olive oil. Place the chicken in the egg mixture. Make sure all the pieces are covered. (Sorry about the photo, but there is no good way to photograph raw chicken sitting in raw eggs.)

In the second bowl mix the chopped coconuts and oats. Use a fork to move the chicken pieces from the egg mixture to the second bowl. Mix gently or toss until the chicken until completely coated.

Place each piece of chicken on a baking sheet so that the pieces are not touching and bake for 35-40 mins. You want them somewhat crispy on the outside. Coconut Chicken is great for snack time or as a food topper.

Keep in mind that these are for the dog and NOT for you. OK, now you have all this egg mixture and some left over coconut and oats. Don’t let it go to waste. Mix the two together with some fresh veggies. Throw the mixture into a baking dish and bake for at the same time with the chicken, for about 20 mins. Viola…. doggie quiche.

Happy Foodie Friday!! It has been a very busy day here at Dog Pack Snacks. Our Pop Up Sale just started on our Facebook page and then we found out that we were named a Top 10 Small Business Facebook Page. Whoo Hoo!!

Ok… back to the meatballs. We love meatballs around here, because you can do so much with them. They are great for hide and seek (I will have to do a post on that) and great for Kong stuffing. You can also use them as food toppers and admittedly we sometime play fetch with them. Here is what you will need:

1 cup chopped carrots

1/2lb lean ground beef

1 egg

1 teaspoon organic tomato paste

1 teaspoon parsley

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix all the ingredients together in one big bowl. No need to get fussy, just make sure it’s mixes well.

I used a small scoop to portion out the mixture and rolled each portion into a ball. Place the meatballs in a baking dish lined with parchment paper. (If you feed raw place the balls in an airtight, food safe container and refrigerate. )

Happy Foodie Friday Fur-Friends. This week I found a great chicken fried rice recipe on Pinterest which I made for myself. So, of course, I had to make a doggie version for the Diva Dog. As always feel free to substitute the veggies for any dog safe veggies you have on had and you can easily make this steak fried rice by using cubes of beef.

If you would like to make a batch for yourself, you can find the recipe on my ‘Foodie’ Board.

Ingredients:

1 Large Chicken Breast cut into small pieces

2/3 cup cooked rice. I used Brown but feel free to use what you have on

1 egg 1/4 cup frozen peas

1/4 cu frozen carrots

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 teaspoon blackstrap molasses

1/2 teaspoon crushed garlic (Optional)

Heat the oil in a saucepan then add the garlic chicken and veggies. Sautee until the the chicken is cooked.

Add the egg to the middle of the pan and scramble.

Once the egg is scrambled add the rice and the molasses. Stir until mixed through and let the mixture cook for an additional 3-5 mins.

*A word on garlic: There are many pet parents that avoid giving garlic to their pets and there are those of us who believe in the benefits of a small amount of cooked fresh garlic. Do your research and decide for yourself. If you do feed garlic, try to avoid garlic salt and garlic powder. Most importantly, decide what you want to do for your dog and ask others to respect that choice.

Yep! You read that correctly, Curry. Curry Chicken is one of my favorite meals. It is a meal we ate often growing up and the smell still reminds me of home. When I make curry, I usually make a batch for me and a batch for Coco. The Diva Dog LOVES curry. I think the smell is what really attracts her. So based on what I have in the fridge at the end of the week, I decided to make her a Curry Chicken Meatloaf. There is just enough curry in this recipe to get her nose excited.

To be specific I only use the mild yellow curry that is sold at the grocery store when cooking for Coco. The main ingredient in Curry is Tumeric which has many health benefits for both you and your dog. You can read more about tumeric here.

Once you have calmed down about the fact that I posted a curry chicken recipe for dogs, you should consider making this dish for your pup.

Ingredients:

½ lb. Ground Chicken

½ cup Cooked Brown Rice

½ cup fresh spinach chopped

¼ cup fresh parsley chopped

½ cup peas and carrots (thawed)

1 Egg

½ teaspoon curry powder

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix all the ingredients together. Make sure to mix well so that each meatloaf slice will have a little of everything. Spoon the mix into a small loaf pan, cover and Bake for 35 minutes or until cooked through.

Serve with your dog’s daily supplements or add a few bites to your dog’s regular food.

NOW GO COOK FOR YOUR DOG!

Please note: These recipes are not ‘nutritionally complete’ as defined by the AAFCO*. However, my dog Coco’s diet has been 90% home cooking with no problems for years. I supplement her diet with fish oil, yogurt, kelp powder, cottage cheese, Dasuquin with MSM.

We are happy that you are joining us for another Foodie Friday. If you are new to Foodie Friday, WELCOME! You can find previous recipes here.

At the beginning of the week, I roasted a turkey breast for me and the Diva Dog to share. Well now at the end of the week, we still have turkey left. I made a Casserole for myself and one for Coco. To make both casseroles, I used what I had in the fridge to avoid wasting any of the food I bought last weekend. So raid your fridge and create a casserole of your own.

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked Turkey minced or chopped

1 cup rice pasta cooked

1/3 cup cooked green beans

1/4 cup shredded carrots

1 egg

1 tablespoon plain greek yogurt

1 tablespoon mozzarella cheese

Mix all the ingredients together. Make sure to mix well. Transfer the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 mins. I used two small casserole dishes instead of one large one but that is just a personal preference.

To make the human version, I used:

two eggs instead of one

replaced the yogurt with twice as much riccotta cheese

seasoning to taste

1/2 cup chopped green onions

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

Lots more mozzerlla.
